Nar Nar Goon has continued its dominant form in the WGFNC Veterans competition with a thumping 121-point victory over Warragul Industrials at Western Park on Mother’s Day.
Having just witnessed its senior team defeat the Dusties by 66 points, the Over-35s trumped their younger comrades with a brilliant display of free-flowing football.
The Goon was forced to work hard in the opening quarter, leading by 21 points at quarter time, but then played some sublime football through the middle stages of the contest.
The visitors kicked 6.4 to 1.0 in the second term and lifted their game even further with an outstanding 8.4 to no score premiership quarter.
Leading by 107 points at the final break, the Goon put the hamstrings and calf muscles on ice as they cruised home to victory in the final term.
Jared Goldsack and Scott Murphy were the main beneficiaries of a dominant midfield display, booting three goals each, while Troy Farrell and Ben Scanlon chipped in with a couple apiece.
Brian Andrews, Rob Dobin, Daniel Galante, Daniel Healey, Jye Healey, Nick Henwood, Dwayne Scott and Shannon Stocco also hit the scoreboard in a brilliant display of team football.
Former Pakenham champion Nathan Brown was an instrumental force around the ground, while Michael Whyte, Ben Nobelius and Ben Fenton wound back the clock with classy displays for the Goon.
The Dusties were outclassed, but Shane Ingham, Jake Green, Henry Yu, Chris Lee, Chris Cameron and Matthew Gooden can hold their heads high in defeat.
Phillip Island is looming as the main threat to the Goon after a 49-point win over Kilcunda-Bass.
Geoff Odgers was in scintillating form for the Doggies, kicking six of the best, while Dave Ivey and Leigh Woolford put two each through the woodwork.
Blake Lawrence and Peter Tucker kicked three each for the Panthers.
And Devon Meadows sits in third place on the ladder after a 48-point win over Neerim South.
Ben Mayers proved a handful for the Cats, slotting five goals for the Panthers, with Rob Mackay jagging three and Ash Adams a brace.
Scott Young, Ash Brady and Daniel Rigg joined Mayers, Mackay and Adams on an impressive-looking best players list.
Luke Bottom kicked two for the Cats, with Steve Heath, Matt Kane, and Dean Macfarlane also celebrating six pointers.
