Locals can learn more about the major changes to their road and rail network when Victoria’s Big Build Roadshow heads out to the Yakkerboo Festival on Sunday 21 April.
Teams from the Metro Tunnel, the Level Crossing Removal Project and Major Road Projects Victoria will be on hand from 10am to 1pm to answer questions about road and rail construction in the local area, as well as planned disruptions.
This year is shaping up to be a big year for Pakenham, with a package of works underway, including the removal of three dangerous and congested level crossings at McGregor Road, Main Street and Racecourse Road, and new stations opening at Pakenham and East Pakenham.
Six MCGs worth of community open space are also being created for locals to enjoy.
The Pakenham and Cranbourne lines will become level crossing free next year, with upgrades continuing on the Pakenham Roads Upgrade, which includes upgrading Racecourse Road, McGregor Road and the Princes Freeway, removing bottlenecks and improving traffic flow.
Work on the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade is also continuing, with an extra lane being added in each direction between Princes Freeway and Manks Road and new traffic lights at Greenhills Road.
The Big Build Roadshow at the Yakkerboo Festival will include interactive and family friendly activities for children, including mini diggers, building blocks, paper trains, colouring, and show bags.
Pakenham MP Emma Vulin said the works will pave the way for a bright future for Pakenham.
“The work we’re doing is reshaping Pakenham’s road and rail network, removing bottlenecks and creating important connections for the future,” she said.
