Bass Coast residents are keen to enjoy greater access to health services, with the State Government’s new Phillip Island Community Hospital reaching structural completion.
The multi-storey hospital is being delivered in two stages and creating up to 100 jobs during peak construction.
With 32,000 hours already worked onsite, the completion of the main concrete structure works paves the way for the hospital’s façade to take shape, while work gets underway on the internal fit-out.
Managed by Bass Coast Health and delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) in partnership with Bass Coast Health and builder SJ Higgins, the Phillip Island Community Hospital will expand the services currently provided by the Phillip Island Health Hub to better support the health and wellbeing needs of the local community – such as after-hours care for non-emergency injuries like bumps, cuts and bruises.
By the end of the year, the first stage of the project to expand the Urgent Care Centre will be nearing completion and once complete the second stage of the project to transform the existing centre into dental treatment areas will begin.
Bass MP Jordan Crugnale said said Phillip Island is continuing to grow as a community, with more families choosing to live and work in the area.
“Having access to a brand-new community hospital on Phillip Island will mean locals can get the care they need on their doorstep,” she said.
