GARFIELD GOLF
It was glorious week weather wise at Garfield Golf Club and, as we come into the autumn season, more of the same can be expected as it is well known that this is the best time of the year.
The veteran’s tour arrived at Garfield on Monday attracting a very good size field of 118 players.
Kevin Whitmore did best for the locals finishing runner up for the A Graders with a better than handicap result of 38 points.
A final score of 33 points or better was the number required to finish in the money.
A huge thank you to Camm and Kaye in the kitchen, the meal was absolutely superb and delivered very quickly…one of the fastest finishes we have had at the Vets.
Secondly a big thanks to Chris for all his help prior, during, and at the conclusion of proceedings as it made the organisers job very easy.
The course was in superb condition so thanks to Tym and staff, nothing but the best reviews.
Next event is at Trafalgar on Monday 25 March commencing at 9am; all names to John by the Thursday before.
VALE PETER FEDORENKO
It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of our long-term member Mr. Peter Fedorenko.
Peter, fondly known as “Pop”, joined the club in 2008 and was a regular player playing up to three times each week, sometimes more.
Garfield Golf Club was Peter’s second home and he will be very fondly remembered and sadly missed.
The club will be holding a day to remember Peter on Wednesday 13 March at 11am and all members are welcome to attend.
All at the club send our deepest sympathies to Peter’s family during this difficult time.
Peter Fedorenko was 75 years old.
Farewell dear friend.
Saturday was Monthly Medal Day and attracted a huge field of 162 players with a final score of 73 nett the number required to finish in the money.
Jackson Bennett had the best round with a winning score of 64 nett; two shots better than Scott Hathaway and Steve Kohut Snr.
Grant McLure returned to the winners’ list by winning the A Grade event with a score of nett 67 whilst Bennett and Hathaway won their respective grades and Kohut Snr won the D Grade event.

Peter Van Helmond had the week’s best score with a Sunday winning round of 43 points out of a field of 35.
