Cardinia Shire Council will host World Refugee Festival on Sunday 25 June, as part of World Refugee Week.

This year’s World Refugee Week theme is ‘Finding Freedom’, reminding us that freedom should not be an ask, it should be a way of life.

The World Refugee Festival is a free celebration for everyone.

It will feature Bollywood and African dance performers, as well as traditional drumming, food stalls from diverse cuisines, and youth and children’s spaces.

Mayor Cr Tammy Radford encouraged the community to join in the celebrations.

“World Refugee Festival is an opportunity to celebrate the strength, resilience and determination of men, women and children who were forced to flee their homeland. We acknowledge and celebrate their incredible contribution, especially in our local community,” said Councillor Radford.

The festival will take place on Sunday 25 June from 11am to 3pm at the Cardinia Cultural Centre, Lakeview Room, 40 Lakeside Boulevard, Pakenham.
