Tennis climaxes at West Gippy

Beaconsfield and Bunyip left the Pakenham Regional Tennis Centre with new silverware last week, as winners of the West Gippsland Tennis Association (WGTA) 2022/23 Summer Night Grand Finals.

With two father-son combinations, Beaconsfield (4/30) got the chocolates in Section 1 against Bunyip (2/21), but Bunyip managed to outclass Tynong in section two, 5/37 to 1/24.

At the presentation ceremony following the action, stalwart Gordon Berry was awarded a life membership of the WGTA, in recognition of his service of running an efficient competition.

WGTA President Lyn Beard was also duly presented with a Life Membership.

Ms Beard has lead the WGTA for the last 12 years through what has been a challenging time for local tennis and has been instrumental in the WGTA taking over the management of Koo Wee Rup Tennis Centre.

Ms Beard has been the only woman to hold the position of WGTA President since it’s inception over 70 years ago.
