Working out with the world

Members of CrossFit Innovation in Pakenham came together on Saturday to take on the world.

And that’s not motivational speech – it was quite literally true – as a healthy turnout at Pakenham took part in the 2023 CrossFit Open.

The Open is a global event whereby every CrossFit Gym around the world completes the same workout over the same weekend.

Athletes are then able to benchmark their scores against other athletes of the same age and ability from around the world.

It’s a huge celebration of health, fitness and community.

The CrossFit Open coincided with the CrossFit Innovation Open Day, where owners Kahl Heinze, Netty Bailey, Jodie Oliver and Scott Oliver celebrated moving to their new purpose-built facility on Innovation Way in Pakenham.

Heinze was thrilled to celebrate two such big events on the same day, and celebrate building a business that focuses on community and wellbeing.

“All four of us are passionate about health, wellbeing and the community” Heinze said.

“Our dream was to build a place where people of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities could come and train under the supervision of our expert coaches, and to be the best and healthiest version of themselves they can be.

“Our community ranges in age from 15 through to 78 years old.

“We are extremely proud of each and every member and the inclusive, supportive community we have created and continue to build.”

CrossFit Innovation is already working with people with disabilities and plans to run programs for disadvantaged youth later in 2023.
