Team Hite too hot to handle in Summer Triples

CARDINIA WATERS BOWLS

Cardinia Waters bowlers celebrated the conclusion of another summer bowls season with finals day for their popular Summer Triples competition recently.

The semi-finals were conducted before lunch and the grand final in the afternoon.

The top-four teams played off to find the eventual winner, with two teams winning their way into the grand final.

They were ‘Team Hite’ consisting of Bill Hite, Alan Curtis and Lydia Knight and ‘Team Naylor’ consisting of Ray Naylor, Graeme Taylor and Sandra Mellis.

In the earlier semi-finals, Team Hite played against and defeated ‘Team Gogan’, which consisted of Tom Gogan, John Cleland and Faye Thomas.

In the other semi, Team Naylor defeated ‘Team Lewis’, with Jim Barrie and Peter and Therese Mitchell playing.

After a nice barbecue lunch, players and supporters returned to the green to see the two final teams battle out for the title.

Bill Hite’s trio grabbed an early lead and with Lydia Knight leading the way with some good accurate bowls they powered away from Ray Naylor’s team.

After the last bowls were rolled the scoreboard showed Team Hite winning 13-5.

In the playoff for third place Tom Gogan’s team defeated Team Lewis.

Summer twilight triples is a popular handicap team game played on Monday evenings for Cardinia Waters Club bowlers.

This year 12 teams played, and the green has a total capacity for 14 teams.

Prizes for this and other club events will be presented at Club Presentation Night on April 29.
