Bunyip Rodeo a success

Sunday 19 February saw our sixth Bunyip Rodeo go ahead on a beautiful sunny day after a two-year hiatus.

The rodeo attracted a record crowd and was a sold-out event with gates having to close to ensure the crowd remained safe during the course of the afternoon.

The Bunyip Rodeo Group has a small committee and is a non-for-profit organisation that partners with local community groups to put on the event. This year the rodeo partnered with the Bunyip CFA, Bunyip Football and Netball Club, Bunyip Men’s Shed, Bunyip Junior Football Club and Bunyip Tennis club as well as our 22 sponsors to ensure the event went according to plan.

The day started off with music to entertain the crowd by Jessica Rose, there were rides and a carnival to ensure we maintained our family friendly atmosphere and there was plenty of action, thrills and spills that started at 1pm to entertain the crowd for more than four hours.

Events included bull ride, saddle bronc and barrel racing, and there was a local barrel race to entertain the crowd.

The event has been supported by the Cardinia Shire Council since 2016 and Ron Woodall and family has been the rodeo promoter of choice for our event.

The Bunyip Rodeo Group would like to thank Woodall’s Rodeo Promotions, our generous sponsors, food, drink and clothing vendors, all of our amazing 100-plus volunteers and last but not least, the overwhelming crowd for attending our rodeo and making it the biggest event we have seen.
