Sunday was a day of mixed emotions for the members and guests of Pakenham Upper Toomuc Cricket Club.
The JA Cup started by Chris Gunton and the committee in 2015 was a Memorial Day to celebrate the lives of those the club have loved and lost, but these days have always been tainted with an air of grief, mixed with the joy and memories.
This year Bob Senior and Clive Fielder were remembered, two Yabbies who will be missed.
Bob supported his son and players as a spectator, and dedicated his time and machinery when it was required.
Clive was a player, president, secretary, junior coach, and more, as a dedicated family man who touched all lives with his humour, passion and love of the club and everyone in it.
Three generations played cricket together, Dave Downes played a cameo role in gully with his daughter Victoria, and grandsons Harvey and Finn Senior.
Brett Carey opened the batting with his son Tyson, both failing, and Jai and Riley Allcock played together as brothers in arms once again.
On the faces of spectators was laughter and joy on an otherwise dreary day.
What more could Clive have wanted other than to witness it in person?
His son Kenny and grandson Harrison stood proud in the field whilst Bob “Snake” Phillips ran in the bowl.
The only one missing was Ron Milnes, who was doctoring the score book to bowl 10 overs from one end.
Well done to all who worked tirelessly to bring it together and make it such a success.
