Hunt for $2m jewellery robbers

Police detectives have released computer-generated images of two men wanted over a $2 million armed robbery at a Dandenong jewellery store on 29 December.

Police have released depictions of two armed robbers wanted over a terrifying $2 million-plus jewellery heist in central Dandenong.

The pair dressed in tradie vests entered the jewellery store on Thursday 29 December about 6pm, Greater Dandenong CIU detectives say.

They assaulted and threatened a victim at knifepoint, forcing him to open the store’s safe.

He was then tied up, with his hands bound and mouth gagged as the offenders looted the store.

They stole 21-carat gold necklaces, bracelets, pendants, rings and cash worth between $2 and $2.5 million.

The robbers fled in the victim’s vehicle before swapping into a silver Toyota Camry, police believe.

Detectives have released computer-generated images of two men and CCTV of the Camry as part of their investigation.

The first man was described as Caucasian appearance, 165 centimetres with a skinny build.

He wore gloves, a green fluoro top, brown work pants, sunglasses and a balaclava or similar.

The other man was believed to be in his late 50s, 175-180 centimetres with white and black hair.

He wore gloves, a dark-coloured cap, black sunglasses, a blue face mask, orange top and pants.

They were described as “very strong”, police say.
