Pakenham firefighters run hot

It was a busy afternoon for Pakenham firefighters on Tuesday 13 December after they were called to two separate incidents in Pakenham and Nar Nar Goon.

CFA responded to reports of a laundry fire on Racecourse Road in Nar Nar Goon at around 5pm.

Ten CFA units from Nar Nar Goon, Cardinia Group, Bunyip, Tynong, Maryknoll and Pakenham attended the scene, where the fire had spread into the roof and kitchen within the home.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the kitchen and the roof by 5.52pm and declared the incident under control, the CFA said.

The scene was declared safe at 7.11pm before it was handed over to Victoria Police.

Around the same time, FRV crews responded to a separate house fire on Gilmour Street.

The flames were quickly extinguished within minutes, an FRV spokesperson said.
