RESIDENTS can now make a splash at the Pakenham Outdoor Pool earlier with the Cardinia Shire Council extending the facility’s opening hours from today (Thursday).
The pool is now open to the public from noon to 7pm during the week and 11am to 7pm on the weekend.
Cardinia mayor Bill Ronald said strong attendances at the pool since its reopening on 17 November prompted the council to extend opening times by four additional hours each day.
“Council is responding not only to the large number of inquiries it has received about opening hours but also the extensive community usage of the pool,” he said.
“There has been an extraordinary response from people keen to swim in the newly refurbished Pakenham outdoor swimming pool and council is certainly listening and responding to the community.”
The pool will remain open beyond normal operating hours when the temperature is above 30 degrees Celsius at scheduled time of closing and there are still at least 30 people at the facility.
The pool will not open when the forecast temperature is below 20 degrees Celsius.
The pool will be closed Christmas Day.
