PAKENHAM Library is giving residents the chance to put the spring back into their step this summer.
The John Street library is now lending pedometer kits as part of Casey-Cardinia’s Step into Summer at Your Library program.
Pakenham Library branch manager Melissa Martin said the kit provided locals with the perfect opportunity to improve their health and fitness.
A pedometer is a portable device that counts each step a person takes. Health experts have recommended that 10,000 steps a day is a good goal for healthy active adults.
Mrs Martin said the pedometer kits also included a lifestyle and physical activity sheet as well as maps illustrating four walks around Pakenham.
“It’s great for people wanting to improve their health and fitness at this time of year,” she said.
Mrs Martin said library members could also borrow weight-loss and sports books to kick start their fitness regimes. Books and the pedometer kits can be borrowed for up to a month.
