Charity says tanks

By Melissa Grant
A PAKENHAM business is streaming its resources to give various charities a helping hand during the drought.
Staff at Melbourne RotoMould recently donated a water tank to 4Cs which will greatly help the food bank provide fresh produce to families in need throughout the year.
The business, which advises people of their nearest water-tank supplier, has also given tanks to Macclesfield’s Shangri-La Wildlife Shelter and St James Catholic School in Nar Nar Goon to raise funds at its school fete.
Co-owner Kathy Leed said 4Cs administration manager Sue Friend warmly welcomed the donation.
“Sue told me they had a veggie garden and I said ‘do you have a tank to water it?’
“When I offered her one she started crying,” she said.
Mrs Friend said she couldn’t wait to have the water tank up and running next year.
“We are very excited,” she said.
“Having this water tank will be phenomenal because we can water when we want for as long as the water’s there.
“We can’t get water restrictions lifted but now we can use run-off water from the shed.”
Mrs Leed said the business had attracted much interest since moving to Pakenham earlier this year, even from a community television station which came to film an episode about water tanks recently.
“We had Channel 31 come out to film for their 4WD show,” she said.
“A lot of people can’t wash their cars without a tank.”
Mrs Leed said it was great to be able to give something back to her local community.
“We’ve made these donations so far because we want to help the community,” she said.
“If we recognise that someone in the community really needs one, we’ll donate.”
Melbourne RotoMould will appear on Channel 31’s 4WD show in February.
