Funding promise for Pakenham Upper Cricket Club

The Liberal Government has promised $250,000 for new training pitches and nets for the Pakenham Upper Cricket Club.

$100,000 would go to the Yabbies, Pakenham Upper Cricket Club for new training pitch surfaces, retractable training nets that can be secured for the club, and associated works to help make the facilities safe and reliable for the club, its members and the wider community.

$150,000 would be put towards creating a new masterplan for the Pakenham Upper Recreation Reserve.

Yabbies president Adam Tucker said the club committee deserved all the credit for this commitment, as they have been fighting for these facilities for many years.

Liberal candidate for Pakenham David Farrelly said the club and the recreation reserve had been neglected by the State Government and the council for too long.

“Whilst the entire community need these facilities upgraded and planned for the future, it’s the junior players that need our support the most,” Mr Farrelly said.

“With the right facilities we can engage more kids in sports which helps them with their physical health, mental health and assists in building meaningful friendships. I will always support our local clubs and the important work they do with our youth”.
