CRANBOURNE Secondary College students were given a hands-on insight into a number of jobs as part of a Career Adventure Day recently.
The South East Local Learning and Employment Network’s (SELLEN) Local Community Partnerships (LCP) group organised the day, during which 13 Year 10 students toured Bunnings Cranbourne, Aussie Disposals Hampton Park and Freeway Ford in Cranbourne to gain an insight into the various employment opportunities available locally.
SELLEN LCP spokesman Alex Palazzolo said the students, along with teacher George Mercer, and SELLEN LCP representative Yolande Valente, would also be working on a side project to build a barbecue at the Cranbourne Secondary College grounds.
For inspiration, the entourage also visited Eumemmerring Secondary College in Hallam where students had already built a barbecue.
Mr Palazzolo said the students, part of the school’s Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) program, responded positively to the day.
“The plan from here on is to work on the barbecue in conjunction with Bunnings,” he said.
