Casey emergency services volunteer groups are being encouraged to apply for grants.CFA and SES volunteers are the backbone of many communities and the vital organisations are being urged to apply for several grants on offer.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan wants Casey emergency services volunteer groups to apply for this year’s first round of Community Safety Emergency Support Program (CSESP) grants.
Grants worth $15.5 million have been handed out since the program began in 2000 with local SES, CFA, Life Saving Victoria and Volunteer Coast Guard groups all eligible to receive funding for specialist emergency equipment.
“In particular, I would encourage our local CFA brigades to apply for equipment such as a ‘slip-on unit’ for those brigades that don’t already have one,” Mr Donnellan said.
“These units are extremely useful with a 400-litre water capacity designed to access fires in difficult areas and suppress them fast.”
The State Government is offering $11 million in grants through the CSESP over the next four years.
“This funding program is about giving our emergency services volunteers the opportunity to buy specialist equipment to help them carry out their important service.
“These volunteers risk their lives not only protecting our community assets but assist other communities around the state such as the recent floods in Gippsland,” Mr Donnellan said.
To apply for these grants, local groups should contact their agency’s CSESP representative.
