Liberal candidate for Pakenham David Farrelly has pledged $1.15 million to the Officer Sikh Temple if the Liberals form government in the upcoming State Election.
The money will be used to upgrade car parking and improve security, as well as create a new community hall, energy capture and storage, children’s play equipment and all-access toilets.
“As a local volunteer myself I see the amazing work our Sikh community do, especially during times of crisis,” Mr Farrelly said.
“I’ll always support groups that help others, and I’m very proud to be working together with the Gurdwara to improve their facilities.”
The Officer Sikh Temple works collaboratively with the community with education and outreach programs and also provides meals for those in need.
Mr Farrelly said the funding would help the Sikh Temple expand their volunteer work locally and make a personal contribution for a better future for Officer locals.
Mr Farrelly was joined by leader of the Victorian Liberal Party Matthew Guy and Gembrook MP Brad Battin to make the announcement.
