Frightening front yard display returns

Halloween enthusiast Brooke McGowan-Grills is in readiness for the big day with her front garden display coming to fruition once again.

The theme of this year’s display is Lego, with Ms McGowan-Grills taking a different path from her ‘Goosebumps’ inspired arrangement in 2021.

Among the creations ahead of 31 October are a giant pumpkin, a six-foot high scarecrow overlooking the pumpkin patch and a giant spider with piercing red eyes.

It’s the culmination of four months of work, the exhibit’s curator said.

“I love it,” Ms McGowan-Grills said.

“I’ll be inside and I can hear kids giggling and squeaking, ringing the little door bells. I want the kids to run around and touch things. I want it to be interactive and to be enjoyed.”

With the display all but complete and the outfit settled, all that’s left is the final – and arguably most important – aspect of the big day: the lollybags, for those brave enough to trick-or-treat.

Ms McGowan-Grills’ display is at 85-87 Fontaine Terrace, Narre Warren North.
