Cardinia celebrates ability

RESIDENTS enjoyed a range of free activities and demonstrations to as part of the Cardinia Shire Council’s Celebration of Ability Day on Friday.
The special event, held at Cardinia LiFE, coincided with International Day of People With a Disability.
Then Cardinia Shire mayor Kate Lempriere said the day was a fantastic opportunity for people of all abilities to do something they hadn’t tried before, with snorkelling, swimming races and wheelchair sports among the activities on offer.
A Go For Your Life van was also on hand to provide residents with fun ideas on getting active.
A celebrity wheelchair race was a highlight on the day which aimed to showcase the abilities of those with a disability.
Cr Lempriere said the event focused on wellbeing, inclusiveness, learning and healthy lifestyles.
“Celebration of Ability Day in Cardinia Shire represents an opportunity for us all to celebrate the richness and diversity of the Cardinia Shire community,” she said.
