The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival comes to Baw Baw

The iconic Melbourne Food and Wine Festival returns to Baw Baw this November, kicking off with The Village Feast- a weekend long foodies’ celebration in Thorpdale showcasing the region’s spectacular produce alongside the state’s leading chefs, producers and entertainers.

On the weekend of 19 and 20 November, The Village Feast will transform picturesque Thorpdale into a food lovers paradise, packed with snacking and drinking that showcases the produce of this incredibly fertile region.

There will be pop-up outlets from local and interstate talent including Chef Danielle Alvarez (late of Fred’s), Tasmanian author and chef Analiese Gregory, a celebration of Gippsland milk with That’s Amore and Gippsland Jersey, Cakes by Mali Bakes, pub favourites at classic Art Deco watering hole The Travellers Rest Hotel and entertainment including Mia Wray, Grace Cummings and Dorsal Fins on the main stage.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Michael Leaney said he encouraged festival goers to extend their stay in the region.

“We are thrilled to welcome the internationally acclaimed Melbourne Food and Wine Festival back to Baw Baw,“ he said.

“On the back of the highly successful Village Takeover event at Jindivick in March 2019, this year’s celebration will showcase our regions renowned producers alongside some of the biggest names in hospitality across the country in the township of Thorpdale.“

The Village Feast will be a ticketed event- general public tickets are available from 10am Friday 30 September.

Also accompanying The Village Feast are four truly unique, one-off events Embla x Hogget Kitchen, Hogget Kitchen, Warragul – Fri 18 Nov, Gippsland Farmers’ Grazing Brunch, Civic Park, Warragul – Sat 19 Nov, Provenance, Fire and Wine by Alejandro Saravia, Thorpdale Town Hall, Thorpdale – Sat 19 Nov and Wake Up with a Winemaker, The Village Feast pop up wine bar, Thorpdale – Sun 20 Nov

In line with Baw Baw Shire Council’s Economic Development and Visitor Economy Strategy 2022-2025, The Village Feast is one of the council’s annual major events delivered in partnership with Destination Gippsland.

Destination Gippsland has also developed a Village Feast Weekend Itinerary to help festival goers plan their stay.

The Baw Baw events are part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s Regional Edition, which runs from 18 to 27 November across the State with support from Visit Victoria.
