Snipers throw tons for fun

An already high-quality season in the South West Gippsland Dart League (SWGDL) reached new levels in round nine with a stunning 52 tons thrown for the night.

The biggest clash of the evening saw Snipers and Warriors take aim at second place on the ladder, with Snipers prevailing 11-4 in a match that saw the highest amount of tons thrown for the season.

Dean Gibbs from Snipers was in tremendous form on the night, throwing seven tons to take his season tally to 56 – seven clear of his nearest pursuer.

Dean also threw his second 180 for the season, with Dale Burton-Pye from Just Social also hitting his second ‘lipstick-filler’ and Peter Willems from Gembrook throwing his first.

To round out a great round nine of darts, Jamie from Snipers hit a 112 peg out…just the fourth thrown this season.

The Snipers’ victory saw it leapfrog Warriors into second place on the ladder, two games behind Just Social who continued its unbeaten start to the season with an 11-4 win over Wizards.

Paky One retained fourth place on the ladder with a hard-fought 8-7 win over Rebels, while Mud Rats proved too good for Fore in an 11-4 victory.

And Bullseyes continued their great resurgence after a slow start to the season with a 9-6 win over Gembrook.

The Bullseyes lost their first five games of the season but have now won four on the trot to move impressively to fifth place on the ladder.

Spectators are most welcome to visit the Cardinia Club in Pakenham on Tuesday nights to witness some red-hot darts action.

Matches commence at 7.30pm.
