Olivia nearly didn’t take the role of Sandy in the hit Musical Grease, fearing that she was too old (28) to play the role of a high school student, and worried that her Australian accent would detract from an American character. She was eventually convinced to take the part by her eventual co-star, John Travolta.
2. Although we claim her as an Australian, Ms Newton-John was born in Cambridge, England in 1948. She moved to Australia with her family when she was six years old.
3. Ms Newton-John held a Guinness World Record for 45 years with the shortest gap (154 days) by a female between new Number 1 albums, ‘If You Love Me Let Me Know’ and ‘Have You Never Been Mellow’.
