A leg up for dance

CRAMPED in a scout hall for the past 14 years, the students and teachers at Lind-elle School of Dance are ready and raring to stretch their legs.
Finishing touches are being applied to the iconic school’s new home, a former child care centre in Narre Warren South that has been transformed into a state-of-the-art dance studio.
The project is due for completion in two weeks and Lind-elle principal Belinda Hartney could not be happier.
“This has been nine years in the making,” she said.
“The new space will allow us to double the number of classes we run and take on more staff allowing a great diversity of styles.”
Three studios with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, ballet bars and clubroom will headline the Strathaird Drive development, providing the school’s 130 students with a professional learning environment.
“The scout hall was very constricting having restricted hours as well as issues with the heating, cooling and availability,” Ms Hartney said.
Despite the restrictions, the Lind-elle school has enjoyed success at elite dance competitions and performed floorshows for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and countless community groups.
The dance school offers classes in a range of disciplines, including jazz, hip-hop, ballet, tap, ponte, singing, ballroom and Latin. All teachers are qualified, enthusiastic and enjoy teaching students of all ages.
Lind-elle’s new dance studio is at 43 Strathaird Drive, Narre Warren South. Phone 8790 2733. Please call for a new timetable or to discuss your needs.
