Lions claim first scalp

Pakenham is roaring loudly after the Lions secured their first win of the season against Upwey Tecoma.

The Lions had to dig deep to secure a hard-fought 18-goal win.

The Lions leapt out of the boxes early and quickly jumped out to a nine-goal lead going into quarter-time.

A 10 goal second-term from the Lions saw them stretch the advantage to 13 into the main break.

Pakenham rallied and ran out 18-point winners over the Tigers.

Mia Washington and Rose Laidlaw caused the most damage to the Upwey defence scoring 22 and 15 respectively.

Caitlin Cooke also did her best to keep the Tigers to the meagre score restricting the attacking threat of the opposition.

Emma Jones was also influential for the Lions in providing transition ball and controlled the centre of the court to a tee.

ROC also had a strong win over Wandin away from home.

The Kangaroos had to dig deep to secure the points as they trailed going into the final term.

A spirited performance from Sidney Kneebone and Keeley Burgmann helped anchor their team over the line.

The 13-goal three-quarter-time margin quickly evaporated as ROC continued to roll over the Bulldogs.

Mikaela Dakic continued her good-form this season; Dakic was influential as goal-keeper keeping Wandin’s attackers quiet.

The Kangaroo’s continued to show their skills to win by five goals in a spirited performance.

The win sees ROC move into third on the table with four wins and one draw.

Narre Warren was also able to hold off a fast-finishing Mt Evelyn away from home.

The Magpies held strong and led by five at half-time. The Magpies continued to show their strength and skill throughout the game holding off Mt Evelyn by five goals.

Chelsea Tonna and Jemma Osborne combined for 30-goals to keep the Magpies at the top of the ladder.

Woori Yallock was pushed by Monbulk till the last whistle.

The Tigers holding on by four goals with Elizabeth Murphy and Mia Sudomirski combining to seal the victory.

A GRADE

Seville continued its winning hot-streak with a two-goal win over Berwick at home.

Seville shooting-star Olivia Ray showered home 25 goals to keep the Wickers at bay.

Emma Clarke showed her skill for Berwick as she did he best to rein in the 10-point three-quarter-time margin.

Berwick was brave but couldn’t catch Seville falling two-goals short.

Berwick Springs felt the full force of Belgrave away from home.

Ashlee Murphy scoring a staggering 39 goals in her side’s 21-goal win.

Berwick’s Laura Walker was strong in defence but couldn’t stop the rampant Belgrave outfit.

Yarra Glen was too strong for Gembrook as it ran out six-goal victors.

Yarra Glen fought back from a two goal half-time margin to alleviate the pressure and run out five-goal victors.

Stephanie Gibbs and Lara Wandin-Collins with all the scoring. The duo put on 44 goals to run out victors and see their side hang on to fourth spot.
