School opens new art centre

AUSTRALIA’S next Ken Done could be waiting in the wings of Oatlands Primary School’s new art facility.
The Narre Warren school officially opened the $240,000 complex at a special assembly recently.
The state-of-the-art room was built with the help of a Federal Government grant and a large investment from the school council.
All 730 students proudly turned up to the opening along with parents and teaching staff who welcomed La Trobe Federal MP Jason Wood to the school.
Oatlands school council president Craig Rooney said the enthusiasm and support shown by officials and the wider school community was overwhelming.
Art teacher Dianne Cappadona also expressed her pleasure in working in such a wonderful facility.
“All the students really enjoy working in such a bright and stimulating room which allows them to really express their artistic flare and talents,” she said.
The multi-coloured, vibrant and bright room has enabled art to be proudly promoted within the school’s curriculum, Ms Cappadona said.
