Upcoming road closures on Koowee Rd

Early works will be ramping up at the Healesville-Kooweerup Road upgrade in the coming weeks.

Crews will be undertaking road resealing works on Healesville-Kooweerup Road upgrade between Greenhills Road and Ellett roads in both directions from Sunday, 6 March to Friday, 18 March.

To deliver these works safely and reduce disruptions, Healesville-Kooweerup Road will be closed in both directions between Greenhills and Ballarto roads from 8pm to 6am each night.

The closure will allow crews to conduct road resealing works, which will improve the current surface of the road.

There will be detours in place via Princes Freeway, Cardinia Road and Ballarto Road while crews continue this work.

The road will be fully open during the Labour Day long weekend, from Friday, 11 March to Monday, 14 March.

To safely install construction barriers, lane closures will be in place on Healesville-Kooweerup Road between Livestock Way and Manks Road each night from 8pm to 6am between Sunday, 20 March and Friday, 29 April, excluding Friday and Saturday nights and the Easter long weekend.

Major construction is expected to commence on Healesville-Kooweerup Road by mid-year.

Crews have been on-site since mid-2021 locating utility services and site investigations to better understand ground conditions.

Once complete, the Healesville-Kooweerup Road upgrade will benefit road users by significantly improving safety, traffic flow and travel times for road users across Melbourne’s southeast.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys and can visit bigbuild.vic.gov.au for more details.

The Healesville-Kooweerup Road Upgrade is expected to be completed by 2025.
