Police car rammed in Warragul

Police are appealing for the public’s assistance following the theft of a car in Port Albert and subsequent ramming of a police vehicle in Warragul.

The white Toyota Landcruiser was stolen from a residence on Tarraville Road in Port Albert about 5.15am on Wednesday 9 February.

The vehicle was sighted by police bearing stolen registration plates ACE KL1 on the Princes Highway at Warragul about 8.05am on the same day.

The Landcruiser is believed to have been driving in convoy with a white Mazda CX-5 which police were attempting to intercept for speeding.

The Landcruiser was driving erratically before slowing to a stop on the road and reversing into the police vehicle that had pulled up behind it.

The offending vehicle then drove off in a westerly direction on the Princes Highway.

Fortunately, no police officers were injured in the incident.

Investigators have released an image of the vehicle.
