Bank smash

Pakenham Main Street was shut off to traffic for a couple of hours on Tuesday 1 February after a car reversed into the ANZ building.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 2pm to find a car smashed through the front window of the bank.

Onlookers at the scene described the driver to be an older person who had been backing out of a car space when the accident occurred.

A loud bang and tire screeching was also heard by shop keepers along the main street.

A police spokesperson said the car has backed into the front of the shop window and no one was injured.

FRV firefighters arrived on scene in six minutes to find a car that had reversed into a window of a building, a FRV spokesperson said.

Hazmat crews worked to ensure the fuel leak was controlled from the ruptured fuel tank of the car.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics assisted one patient at the scene.
