Initial works begin

The start of construction works for the Healesville-Kooweerup Road Upgrade is one step closer as investigation work continues.

Bass MP Jordan Crugnale said work was getting well underway.

“We are getting on with this major road duplication project and we have all seen crews out on the stretch in high-vis over the past few months undertaking geo tech and site investigations which includes identifying and protecting underground services and getting a better understanding of the road and ground conditions,“ she said.

Information found during these investigations will be used to inform the final design and construction methodology.

“In the first half of this year we will see them setting up site offices, installing temporary traffic lights at Healesville-Kooweerup and Hall Roads, and on Healesville-Kooweerup Road just south of Deep Creek, installing safety barriers and fencing, relocating and protect utilities, removing trees and vegetation where necessary and relocating fauna where required,“ Ms Crugnale said.

Major Road Projects Victoria is expected to start constructing the Healesville-Kooweerup Road Upgrade in the first half of 2022 and the project will be completed by 2025.
