Soccer club runs for funds

HAMPTON Park United Soccer Club is raising money this Sunday with a fun run.
Children from the soccer club have been busily gathering donations.
Club vice-president Russell Mackie said all funds raised would go to buying sports equipment as the club prepares for its 30th birthday celebrations this year.
The event also aims to bring parents along to experience the club first hand and particularly the many families from different nationalities.
“They are often a bit quiet and may not know about the club and other activities offered in Hampton Park,” Mr Mackie said.
Each age group has a maximum number of laps to run around the senior ground and whoever finishes quickest gets a trophy.
The person who raises the most money also wins a trophy. The event starts at 10am and will be followed by a barbecue and the seniors and reserves games at 1pm and 3pm.
It will be held at the KM Reedy Reserve on Pound Road, Hampton Park.
Mr Mackie encouraged people to come down and help out the club and local soccer in Hampton Park.
