The district’s best animals and produce were on display in the 125th annual Lang Lang Agricultural Show over the weekend, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 January.
Cattle, sheep, poultry and the exhibit pavilion all featured in Saturday’s line up, while the annual dog show was held on the Sunday.
Horse events ran across both days.
Lang Lang P. A and H Show secretary Barbara Bullen said it was a “super“ weekend.
“We had a lot of nice feedback on Facebook and via emails,“ she said.
“We are very pleased.“
Spectators were allowed this year after a spectator-free 2021 show.
“A lot of people said they came to see the animals,“ Ms Bullen said.
“A little girl of my neighbour is saying she wants a pony now.“
The show received 500 dog entries on the Sunday and even featured an interstate judge.
As for the exhibit pavilion, Ms Bullen said entries were lower than usual due to the last minute nature of the event, however she said overall, the committee was pleased with the outcome.
“It was lovely to have the pavilion back and our long time supporters were excited,“ Ms Bullen said.
Winners of special categories in the pavilion classes at Lang Lang Show will next compete in the regional judging after all the local shows have been completed, and from there regional winners progress to the Royal Melbourne Show in September.
Those winners were VAS Senior Photography- K. Wallace, Junior – R. Collier, VAS Handknitted cardigan or jumper- L. Edden, VAS Hand Embroidery- C. Summerfield and VAS Carrot Cake- G. Wilde, Junior Carrot and Date Muffins- Jacob Bennett.
The Most Successful Exhibitor was Carol Summerfield who was presented with the Valmai Walker Memorial Shield.
This is a new addition to the trophies and is in memory of Valmai who was a long time exhibitor and winner as well as a pavilion steward for many years, Liz Wilson pavilion chief steward said.
“Congratulations to each exhibitor, both young and old, for the great efforts made to have entries in the 2022 show,“ she said.
