Hillstowe offers community grants

Hillstowe by AVID Property Group (AVID) is encouraging local community groups to apply for its 2022 Sponsorship and Grants Program, offering up to $10,000 in grants to contribute back to the local area.

Applications for local community groups and clubs have been open since 13 December 2021 and will run until 13 January 2022.

In Victoria, three other AVID communities – Bloomdale, Carolina and Savana – will also offer an annual Sponsorship and Grants Program in 2022 with an overall contribution of more than $65,000 from AVID invested into the local Melbourne economy.

Last year AVID sponsored both the Officer Senior Football Club and Officer Kangaroos Junior Football Club to support them through a tough sporting season.

Officer Senior Football Club President Nick McLennan said this partnership has helped to keep the team operational and able to offer team members opportunities to play, train and socialise together.

“It’s been important for the club to have money behind us this year to facilitate proper training, equipment and kitted-out amenities for our club members while Melbourne has been in and out of lockdowns – the partnership has been a great help to us,” Mr McLennan said.

“Funding isn’t always easy to come by when you’re a grass roots sporting organisation.

“The countless volunteers around the club donate their time for the love of the sport, the team and the players – we’re all just doing our best.”

AVID General Manager Victoria Peter Vlitas said the program was designed to make a difference in the community and support those who needed a funding boost.

“This will be our second year running the Sponsorship and Grants Program at Hillstowe, and I’m thrilled that we have another opportunity to contribute to the community,” Mr Vlitas said.

“Our Victorian communities are very much characterised by its people, community groups and culture, and these grants are about strengthening connectivity.

“Each year, I’m impressed by the calibre of applications we receive, and I have no doubt that 2022 will be another exciting year for the program.”

Successful applicants of Hillstowe’s Sponsorship and Grants Program will be announced in February 2022.
