A CONCERT to raise funds for women across the globe is about to hit Pakenham.
Local artists Ginja Roe, CWQ, Jaded Season and Andrew Swift will mount the stage next month to raise money for the Global Fund for Women.
Organiser Rachel Connolly said she hoped to raise $3000 for the fund, an international foundation that supports women’s human rights organisations worldwide.
The 27-year-old decided to hold the One Person, One World concert after doing a presentation for her community welfare course at Dandenong Chisholm TAFE.
“As part of our community development project we had to pick a social movement and do a presentation on it,” she said.
“The Global Fund for Women was really good. They sent out a T-shirt and a DVD so I wanted to do something for them.”
Ms Connolly hoped to become a family case worker, but said she also enjoyed organising events.
“I’d like to do more fundraising so it’s good for the experience,” she said.
The One Person, One World benefit concert will be held on Saturday 20 October from 6:30pm until midnight at the Cardinia Cultural Centre. Tickets cost $10 and can be ordered by calling Rachel on 0418 125 652.
