Fit to do the rounds

BY JARROD McALEESE

FOR more than a decade, Marushka Vytopil and Bronwyn Berry have been delivering newspapers in the community and the pair speak positively about the role the job plays in their day-to-day lives.
Ms Vytopil, a Narre Warren South resident, said that a neighbour who had been a walker got her involved more than 10 years ago.
“A lady around the corner used to deliver the Berwick News and then she introduced me to her supervisor back in 2004,” she said.
A typical week for Ms Vytopil sees her drop off a variety of publications.
“Mondays and Thursdays I do bulk runs, on Mondays I do the Dandenong Journal and on Thursdays I do the Cranbourne News, Berwick News and Pakenham News,” she said.
Ms Berry from Narre Warren has been delivering papers for 15 years and cites two factors that initially motivated her and keep her marching on.
“I wanted to earn a bit of money and walk.
“I walk and get fit, I do the shopping centres so I get a good walk in,” she said.
And when asked about how long she intends to continue her weekly round, Ms Berry said she intends to maintain her routine for as long as possible.
“Until I get too old and I can’t do it,” she said with a laugh.
