Man strips, jumps service counter

A MAN wearing nothing but underwear jumped the counter at Pakenham police station last week.
About 7pm on Monday 30 November, a Pakenham man aged in his thirties stripped down to his underwear and jumped the service counter at the station.
Police said the man flagged on-duty officers’ attention by tapping on the protective glass screen.
The man suffering from mental illness was spoken to by police members and was later treated by the Police, Ambulance and Clinical Early Response (PACER) team.
The man, who was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, was believed to have walked to the station from his home, to where he was returned after being evaluated by the response team.
He was not deemed a risk to police or the community.
Police introduced a series of anti-terror measures earlier this year, following increased threats against police officers.
One of the measures included the mandatory installation of a police security screen at the front counter.
