Homes robbed while victims slept

TWO Pakenham women awoke to the terrifying reality that someone had been in their home as they slept overnight last week.
Though police are yet to locate and charge the invading offender or offenders, both houses targeted were in walking distance of one another and were invaded within a short time of each other.
In the early hours of the morning on Wednesday 21 October, a 37-year-old Greenway Drive resident awoke to a noise near her bedroom door.
The woman, who was at home with her three-year-old son, disturbed the offender who fled.
Police said the offender rifled through her car located in her garage.
It appeared the offender tried to steal a bike which was left dumped on the front lawn.
Police believe the offender entered the home through the unlocked rear garage door.
A few hundred metres down the road in Pakenham, a female victim reported a similar home invasion in the early hours of the morning.
The 43-year-old woman was asleep inside her Page Close home during the incident.
Police said the woman’s purse was taken from inside her handbag located in her wardrobe as she slept.
A laptop, iPad and PlayStation had also been stolen from the home, which was left with several drawers opened and pilfered through.
It is unclear how the offender gained entry to her home; however police are investigating links between the two aggravated burglary incidents.
Police urge home owners to keep their property locked and secured at all times.
