AFTER four years at the helm, former Labor MP Tammy Lobato will step down from her role as CEO of Living and Learning Pakenham at the end of the month.
Ms Lobato, who was the Gembrook MP from 2002 to 2010, this week foreshadowed her pending resignation, which will take affect from 31 August.
An interim CEO is likely to be selected until a permanent replacement is chosen.
“For four years I have had the pleasure of managing, restructuring and growing this wonderful organisation and have received much pleasure in seeing many beneficial outcomes,” Ms Lobato said.
“This has improved the output of community services and high quality training as well as providing revenue growth as a result of the improved service delivery.
“Our talented team of people have helped to build what is now proudly an organisation with an increased reputation as a credible, quality education and service provider.”
Ms Lobato said her proudest achievement while at the helm at Living and Learning was the group’s expansion into Cardinia Shire’s Toomah Community Centre, as well as setting up the On Track Cafe.
“Now that Toomah is established and on an incredible path to success, I feel it is time to seek new opportunities and different personal challenges,” she said.
“I don’t expect that my departure will create too much disruption as our board of governance is considering options including that of an interim CEO to ensure continuity of management while looking for a permanent replacement.
“While some management changes are inconvenient, in terms of the timing, I think the organisation is in the best possible position to cope with the transition.”
Ms Lobato thanked the team at Living and Learning, external stakeholders and Cardinia Shire Council for all their support over the last four years.
Living and Learning operates two facilities – one in Henry Street and one at the Toomah Community Centre – which provide training and education for the community.
