Bands ‘slay’ the judges

THE battle is over and a winner declared!
The Push Start Battle of the Bands was held on Friday, 29 June at the Pakenham Hall with an array of talented young people taking to the stage for Cardinia’s ultimate music challenge.
About 290 people crowded the venue to listen to 2007 Push Start Battle of the Bands hopefuls Slayain, Decomvulsion, Sunsets in Suburbia, Decembers Fallen, Shy Robyn, The Posers, and Me, You and the Other Two.
The seven bands competed for awesome prizes as well as the chance to compete in regional finals and take Cardinia music to the top.
Slayain came out on top of what officials said was a fantastic line-up. A close second was Decomvulsion.
Slayain will go on to play at the regional finals later in the year.
“This year’s event was awesome with some really enthusiastic bands performing to an excited crowd at the Pakenham Hall,” said local musician and judge Brent Hall.
“It was great to see so many young people enjoying the event and supporting their favourite band.
“It was a difficult choice to make as we were impressed by all of the bands and the wealth of talent on the night.”
Push Start Battle of the Bands is an annual event in which Cardinia Shire’s young musicians and songsters are given the chance to ‘push start’ their careers, and provides an opportunity of getting their music heard locally and regionally.
