THE popularity of the Pakenham Racing Club’s new home, Racing.com Park, Tynong, has continued, with 268 nominations for the track’s first foray into weekend racing this Sunday
A huge crowd is expected to grace the 608-acre complex for the Cardinia Shire Community Raceday, where a family-friendly feel will be the focus.
Free kids’ activities will be available from noon to 4pm including sporting games, colouring activities, arts and crafts, carnival rides, market stalls, along with the opportunity to win a bike.
Boys and girls who attend can race down the home straight, with races in the four to six, seven to nine, and 10 to 12-year age groups racing for the chance to pedal away a winner. Simply be on course at 1pm and wait for the announcements.
All children who present a poster in the colouring competition will receive a free badge.
Highlights of the eight-race card include the $30,000 Cardinia Shire Showcase BM70 Handicap (1000m) and the $30,000 Bruce Clough Mazda Showcase for fillies and mares over the 1600-metre journey.
It’s then onwards and upwards to the $100,000 Bruce Clough Mazda Pakenham Cup to be run on Sunday 26 April, where $15,000 worth of prizes is up for grabs in Fashions on the Field.
A free shuttle-bus will run to the track this Sunday with departure times and locations to be found on the Pakenham Racing Club website – www.pakenhamracing.com.au
