CASEY artists will display some of their finest work during the last 2006 exhibition in the Civic Centre Art Space program at Narre Warren.
Hand-crafted timber panels, pottery and acrylic paintings are just some of the pieces presented during the show.
Berwick resident Brenda Heathcote has worked on a series of landscape paintings entitled Rugged Beauty while Narre Warren artist Andrzej Starczewski will present four sculptured timber panels during the exhibition. Ms Heathcote has combined her travel experiences throughout Australia with her artistic ability to bring together an emotional response to the landscape.
“When I see the colours and textures of a particular landscape I can’t wait to see it as a painting,” Ms Heathcote said.
She said her favourite subjects are the outback areas of Australia.
“I am addicted to the vividness and depth in the colours and textures of the Australian landscapes.”
A former Polish national and talented sculptor, Mr Starczewski’s work is based on mythological themes and created from a range of different timbers.
His said the display is designed to show audiences the skill and detail involved in hand-carved open wood work.
Upper Beaconsfield artist Jenny Coon will present the third element in the exhibition with a range of hand-thrown pottery and jewellery.
“My pottery is designed to be functional as well as decorative. The jewellery is more decorative and inspired by the coloured glazes and oxides used in the pottery,” Ms Coon said.
All art work is currently displayed at the Narre Warren Council offices in Magid Drive until 3 January.
