SES crews on their toes

By BEN CAMERON

THE Pakenham SES unit responded to 11 calls for assistance following a major thunderstorm on Saturday night.
A crew of 14 worked throughout the night in wet and windy conditions from 9.45pm, with the unit able to answer all calls by Sunday morning at 3am, spanning a large area from Berwick to Bunyip.
“The most dangerous job would have been three cars crushed in a driveway in Berwick,” unit spokesperson Shayne Honey said.
Volunteers then headed to Emerald to assist in a clean-up operation in the hills area.
