COMMUNIUTY members who are passionate about the diversity of their municipality have been asked to speak up.
Nominations are now being taken to be a member of the City of Casey’s Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee for the next three years.
City of Casey Mayor Geoff Ablett said being a member on the committee provides the chance to help create a culturally diverse and inclusive community.
“Our city is home to a rich diversity of age groups, abilities, cultural and religious backgrounds, sexual orientation, social, health and economic circumstances,” he said.
“The Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee works together with council to help create a community which is inclusive and equitable.
“Council is seeking community representatives to offer advice on areas related to diversity access and inclusion.”
Nominations are open for people who are interested in one or more of the areas of Indigenous culture, language diversity, religious diversity, age related matters, disability matters, sexual orientation matters, social and economic disadvantage and isolation.
The committee meets every two months on Wednesday from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.
Membership is for three years from the date of appointment by the council and is voluntary.
Those who would like to find out more information or nominate themselves to be a part of the committee should visit www.casey.vic.gov.au/currentconsultations.
