POLICE band Code-One received rock star attention last Friday when they entertained crowds in Narre Warren.
More than 200 people flocked to Fountain Gate Shopping Centre to watch the band perform a range of songs, including pop music from the early 1950s to top 40 hits and everything from Santana to John Farnham, ABBA, Kylie Minogue and Madonna.
Band leader Paul Tartaglia said the group aimed to deliver important policing messages to its audience through the universal language of music.
These messages include the importance of road safety and crime prevention as well as reinforcing a sense of safety in the broader community.
Casey youth resource officer Senior Constable Brett Owen attended the performance and was pulled up on stage alongside Casey District Inspector Robert Hill and other police officers to dance to the Macarena.
Sen Const Owen said the performance had been fantastic with many young people getting up and dancing.
He said the performances helped forge stronger ties between the police and the community and it was fantastic to see such a big audience.
