CAVALIER pink will be emblazoned brightly around The Fortress on Mother’s Day weekend.
The Casey Cavaliers will trade in their traditional blue and silver uniforms for pink to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer and support the cause at their home triple-header on Saturday 10 May.
The Cavaliers’ ‘Ballin’ For Breast Cancer’, in its second season at Casey, will see a number of raffles, door prizes and on-court contests throughout the night as part of the Mother’s Day weekend.
The powerful-in-pink Casey Cavaliers triple-header will begin with the youth men facing off against the Warrandyte Venom at 4.30pm, the women will clash with Chelsea at 6.30pm and the men face Western Port at 8.30pm.
Casey Cavaliers women’s team captain Amy Mcfarlane said donning the pink for a noble cause was a great honour.
“It’s so exciting,” Mcfarlane said.
“We kind of wanted them last year but we didn’t really have the time, so it was a joint effort this year that everyone wanted them.
“It’s going to be an absolutely amazing game and we’re raising awareness for a good cause.
“There have been a few people that have been touched by breast cancer at the club – immediate family and everyone has got people they know who have gone through it, so we want to help out and do our part.”
The three Cavaliers teams wanted to thank everyone that has donated or put the time or effort in to help organise the occasion, with special thanks to Mcfarlane, Lara Pauline and Deb Spinks who have worked tirelessly to get the event ready.
Donations to the event can be made on the night or through the Casey Cavaliers’ event page on Facebook ‘Ballin’ for Breast Cancer’ or head to: www.bcna.org.au and search ‘Ballin’ for Breast Cancer’.
