Brushing up on oral health

KINDER kids will be beaming white teeth after an oral health program commences in term two.
Cardinia Shire Council has partnered with Monash Health to offer free oral health sessions to kindergartens which are part of the Healthy Together Achievement Program.
The purpose of the sessions is to help younger children throughout the shire achieve the desired oral health benchmark set.
The program includes professional development for teachers and a one-hour information session for parents and their children.
A Monash Health Dental Service therapist will also conduct mouth checks and discuss the child’s oral health with parents.
A spokesperson for Cardinia Shire Council said good oral hygiene in childhood is vital to avoid nasty, costly and painful oral health issues that may come on later in life.
By the end of June, around 350 more children, their families and educators will be able to smile with the knowledge that they can maintain healthy, clean and strong teeth.
The program is jointly funded by the Victorian and Australian governments.
For more information contact Cardinia’s health promotion officer on 1300 787 624.
