Never-ending war

Well done to Mr Lance McDermott of Endeavour Hills for his letter (Not About Glory, News 20 March).
I agree with him wholeheartedly.
Sadly, the casualties didn’t end on the battlefield.
For many veterans, the war never truely ended.
Peace eluded them in life and (internal) scars never did fully heal.
They, too, we remember.
Also the women who served and those who waited at home with a patience and special courage that seems beyond the scope of those who see Anzac Day as war’s celebration and glorification.
John Howard,
Cranbourne.
