Sunny Cowgirls minus the frills

THE Sunny Cowgirls will shine later this month when the musical duo returns to the Hallam Hotel for a special gig.
The country music siblings, Sophie and Celeste Clabburn, are performing at the hotel on Thursday 27 March as part of their Up Close & Personal tour, and will be supported on the night by Jonny Taylor from Australia’s Got Talent.
The Australian sisters have already taken the country music scene by storm, and have now stripped back their sound to showcase their diversity. The Up Close & Personal tour will feature the girls’ classic songs, performed in an intimate and personal atmosphere.
The Sunny Cowgirls will perform songs that span five albums, including Six Pack Short, Green & Gold, Acting Stupid, Cuttin’ up B&S Style, Dancing On The Darling and Summer.
Sophie said the pair were excited to embark on this new musical journey, and would unashamedly showcase themselves as musicians with nothing to hide behind.
“Doing the Up Close and Personal show style is something we’ve been talking about for a while and 2014 seemed like the right time,” Sophie said.
“We know we can play to big audiences and get them going with our party songs, but this style of show will still let them party as well as enjoy the music and stories more so than before.
“It’s a whole new show and we’re really looking forward to surprising people with some new and different songs.”
Celeste conceded that there would be a few nerves ahead of their acoustic shows, but she said the performances would give audiences an insight into how the songs originally sounded.
“It’s nerve racking, this tour will be pretty unique and we may not ever do it again, this is just Soph and I talking about the songs, the influences and pretty much presenting them as they were first written,” she said.
“It makes us pretty vulnerable on stage but it’s the time for us to do it.”
