AN UNDER-UTILISTED and dilapidated park in Pakenham’s heart is undergoing major renovations.
Cardinia Shire Council has installed new playground equipment as part of the first stage of works at Bourke Park opposite Pakenham Railway Station.
Other improvements will include a new public toilet, shelter and seating, a new pathway, improved lighting, landscaping, street art and improvements to the existing stage structure.
“This project is a fantastic opportunity to bring Bourke Park back to life and hand a great public space back to the community,” Cardinia Shire Mayor Graeme Moore said.
“It is important that visitors to Pakenham, who arrive by train or bus, are presented with a fun and lively space where residents enjoy spending time with family and friends.
“I can’t wait to see the finished product and celebrate the completion of the project with the Pakenham community.”
High time for new play
